2018 – This research is focused on improving the aesthetics of plastics that go through the recycling process. By experimenting with color, texture, patterns and the process I developed a material library that can be used to design products that can last a long time and postpone the desire of discarding the products for recycling again. The aesthetical qualities can help extend the products’ lifetime before going through the recycling process again.
This is realized by separating colors in the design process of the new material in one color range in order for the outcome after recycling to remain in the same color family. This enhances the appreciation of the aesthetic that the old torn plastic will bring on its own.
